Official visit of the Lord Speaker of the House of Lords of the United kingdom Baroness D'Souza to the Republic of Slovenia

At the invitation of the President of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia Mitja Bervar, the Lord Speaker of the House of Lords of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Baroness D’Souza visited Slovenia with a delegation on Monday, 15th February 2016, and Tuesday, 16th February 2016. The key topics in discussions were bilateral cooperation, inter-parliamentary cooperation with a particular emphasis on the bicameral system, the United Kingdom’s demands for the reform of the EU, migrant crisis and the realisation of women’s rights, which Baroness D’Souza also discussed with a group of female councillors upon her arrival. The distinguished guest was received by the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor and the President of the National Assembly Milan Brglez. Baroness D’Souza also met with former President of the Republic of Slovenia Danilo Türk and the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Together with the President of the National Council, Baroness D’Souza attended a public discussion on the future of the European Union titled To Reform, or not to Reform?, hosted by the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the Republic of Slovenia on Tuesday.
